Darnell Cottage "Quaran-tour": Exterior!
While we are on the topic of the outside of our home, we wanted to share how we updated the rest of the exterior! With a few simple updates, we transformed our tutor cottage from dated & dull to clean & fresh!
BEFORE |
When we bought our house, it was a sad tan/yellow color. It was accented with brown shutters and a red door. In short, it was not our style.
But, I saw past the lack of curb appeal to what it could be!
AFTER |
We made several simple changes that completely change the look of the home. These are updates that I would recommend to any home that needs a face lift.
1st - Paint! We gave the stucco a fresh coat of white paint. We went with one of my favorites: BM White Dove.
2nd - New Front Door. We replaced red front door and installed + stained a new wood door that had windows to let in the natural light. HERE is a similar one!
3rd - New Sconces. We swapped out the old exterior light sconces for something a little sleeker. We added these flanking the garage as well. Check out similar fixtures HERE.
4th - New Shutters. We removed the brown louvered shutters and changed them out for white board and batten shutters. We painted them BM White Dove as well so they would blend in with the stucco.
5th - New Roof. We used Timberline HD Architectural Shingles in Diftwood. You can find those HERE.
